Meet Our Sponsored Athlete: Chloe Hehir
We are proud to introduce Chloe Hehir, a passionate advocate for environmental conservation. As a sponsored athlete of Seas of Trees, Chloe brings her incredible talent and dedication to our mission of global reforestation.
In addition to her sponsorships with acclaimed brands such as Oakley and Solomon, Chloe’s relationship with Seas of Trees is particularly meaningful. She is passionate about using her voice to raise awareness for tree-planting initiatives. “Growing up in Telluride, I have always been surrounded by the beauty of trees,” Chloe explains. “The thought of losing them is simply unacceptable. Forests are not just a backdrop; they are essential ecosystems that sustain life. Protecting them is non-negotiable. Seas of Trees embodies a cause that requires urgent global attention, and their impactful work is truly inspiring. Their unwavering commitment to environmental conservation aligns perfectly with my own values, and I’m thrilled about the opportunity to contribute to this important mission and make a meaningful impact.”
Chloe also aims to encourage her fellow athletes and nature lovers to join her in a tree-planting effort by participating in the exciting Seas of Trees Vertical Down Hill Challenge this winter. Participants in this challenge will compete for the chance to win a prestigious $1,000 cash prize awarded to the skier or snowboarder who achieves the most downhill vertical feet in a single season. With a modest entry fee of just $35, this competition offers numerous prizes, all aimed at supporting Seas of Trees in their goal to plant 100,000 trees in 2025.

As Chloe steps into the spotlight of skiing legend, she has also chosen to use her world stage as a platform to serve as an athlete ambassador for Seas of Trees, a nonprofit organization focused on global tree-planting efforts. Through this partnership, Chloe aims to elevate the conversation around climate change and inspire urgent action. She believes that her ski attention can be used as a vehicle for change, showcasing the beauty of the winter landscapes she navigates while advocating for protecting these pristine environments. For every country she travels to, Seas of Trees commits to planting trees worldwide to help offset Chloe’s travel footprint while she engages other fellow outdoor enthusiasts in crucial environmental stewardship.
Chloe Hehir, a talented big mountain skier born and raised in Telluride, is on the brink of making her mark on the global ski stage this winter, as she will be competing in the Freeride World Tour (FWT). The FWT is an international series of extreme freeride skiing competitions where athletes tackle natural, ungroomed mountain terrains. The event, equivalent to the Olympics, showcases riders' skills in challenging backcountry settings, with competitions held at various iconic locations worldwide. As a Junior at the University of Colorado Boulder, majoring in creative writing, Chloe captained the CU Boulder Big Mountain ski team during her Sophomore year. She also holds the distinction of being the youngest female competitor in this year’s Freeride World Tour. This season, Chloe is prepared to showcase her skills in a series of high-profile events that will take her through some of the most breathtaking and challenging terrains imaginable where she will be competing in the grand Spanish Pyrenees, the awe-inspiring Caucasus Mountains in Georgia, the rugged Canadian Rockies, and the iconic Alps of Austria and France. Her season will culminate in a thrilling final event held in the picturesque Verbier, Switzerland—a renowned hub for extreme skiing.
Chloe’s love affair with skiing began shortly after she learned how to walk —an experience common for children raised in the ski-centric community of Telluride. Her early adventures frequently took her into the backcountry of Ophir, Colorado, where she honed her skills on steep mountain faces just a ridge over from the world-class Telluride Ski Resort. Her parents, Dan Hehir, an ER doctor at the Telluride Medical Center, and Sue Hehir, a 4th-grade teacher at the Telluride Intermediate School, instilled in her a deep appreciation for outdoor exploration. They would guide her into ungroomed terrain, carve paths through steep alpine bowls, and conquer exhilarating descents above the treeline, literally out her back door. This is where she developed her unique style, emphasizing big air, technical skill, and execution of the gnarly lines. By the age of 12, Chloe began competing with the Telluride Ski Club on the big mountain team, where she merged the skills she acquired through gymnastics and track—that merged into perfect big air jumps, back flips, speed and grace on variable terrain. When she clinched first place at the Kirkwood Challenge last winter, it qualified her into the Freeride World Tour, marking her as a rising star in the ski competition scene.
